Finding Hygge in the Wyld
Taking a step backwards to cure the malady of modern living

The
Overstory
'For over 90% of our evolution, the pace of human life moved in harmony with nature, a slow, deliberate rhythm that saw us living symbiotically with the land. But the advent of the Industrial Revolution shattered that cadence, propelling us into a whirlwind of change that our nervous systems were ill-prepared to handle... it is believed we humans inherit ancestral DNA markers from our distant past—remnants of a time when we lived in closer harmony with the earth...Despite the relentless march of modernity, our nervous systems still find peace within the embrace of nature, responding to the quiet chemistry of phytoncides, the gentle rhythms of natural light, the invigorating touch of negative ions, and the grounding connection to the earth beneath our feet.'

'Whether it’s the healing effects of negative ions, the boost to our immune system from tree phytoncides, the rejuvenation through grounding, the reset of our circadian rhythms by natural light, the restoration of our attention and the soothing of our nervous system through nature connection, or the rekindling of our ancestral DNA, the health benefits of spending time outdoors are vast and profound' - ©Finding Hygge in the Wyld, Sarah Elvin

I'M PURE WILDLING
At time of writing I'm a 49 year old wilding. My formative years were spent mountaineering and leading groups on the fells of the UK. However 15 intersecting years as a professional photographer left me entirely burnt out and without direction. A Scottish roadtrip, and a book about Hygge living saved me. I soon returned to my mountain roots, and am back living in the fells leading walks, and passing on what I've learnt about the science behind the healing power of nature to those I meet along the way.
